Thinking of staying at Layne hostel Jones street, how safe is it for 2 x 25 year old girls?

I cannot speak for inside the hostel, but outside of hostel is fairly safe. unless you are show boating wearing real expensive clothes and jewelry. you will not be noticed. the surrounding street have a lot of foot and automobile traffic 24 hours a day. regarding the hostel, special precaution need to taken whenever sharing rooms. I stayed in a hostel once and it was a unique experience. I also live in the tenderloin. you can walk thru the with no trouble, but it would be foolish to make friends with most of the people you see on the streets because you would have nothing in common with them. plus the building is close to a lot of local transportation to go other places.
