What are some of the famous things Seattle is best known for? What defines Seattle to the rest of the world (both good and bad!)

2. Starbucks Coffee - the home of the largest coffee chain in the world.
3. Microsoft - headquarters are in Redmond
4. Grunge music - Nirvana
5. Weather - Rain!
6. Outdoor activities - great riding, hiking etc
7. Frasier TV series - set in Seattle.
8. Mount Rainier
9. Pike Place Market!
10. Grey's Anatomy TV series - set in Seattle
11. Boeing factory - one of the worlds largest employers.

Don't forget the Pike Place Market! That's the first place most of my friends want me to take them. And Grey's Anatomy is also set in Seattle, adding to the city's sex appeal. Finally, if you're mentioning businesses, you don't want to forget Boeing - even though they seem to be abandoning their home town!

Tully's coffee was also founded in Seattle and a well known staple around these parts. Seattle definitely brought the upscale coffee bars to life and to the mainstream. Can't forget Seattle's Best! Above all, I think Seattle is best known for its scenery, no not technologigal scenery like Amazon.com or RealNetworks, but outdoor scenery like Mount Rainier, Lake Washington, Elliot Bay, Olympic Mountains, and the Cascade Range.
