Hey Flying Dave,

I lived in Sac for a couple of years and though I don't know first hand what living in your area is like, here is what I can tell you from having looked a few things up. First, even before I start--a good sign that it is not all that safe is that everybody has iron bars on their doors--that is a bad sign no matter where you are.

But I looked up the recent crime reports for Masonry Avenue--which is what you are pointing to, I think. Here is what I found for the last 6 months, within a 1 mile radius:

There have been no murders.
32 Assaults--many of them with guns--drive bys that sort thing (including one on Masonry)
1 Rape
17 Robberies
54 Burglaries
And about a hundred other crimes.

Given that it doesn't look particularly dense in that area, I would not consider this a safe area. I would be worried a bit living there and I lived in flat part of Berkeley for 10 years.

Anyway, you can check it out yourself at this website: www.crimemapping.com. Good luck!
