La Grange a good option for suburb of Chicago, working in Lisle?

My boyfriend and I are in our late 20s/early 30s, and we are moving to Chicago for the next year or two. La Grange seems to have the things that we want: open spaces/parks, parking, local businesses including good independent restaurants, rapid transit to Lisle (where he works) and a community of younger, liberal people. Am I right in thinking La Grange is a good fit? Does anyone have other suggestions?
Also looking at Evanston, but it would add about an hour onto his commute each day, which is a major drawback. Thanks!
