Quiet, safe, perfect for families! Walking distance to 2 shopping centers. Holds value well. Always listed in top cities to live in!

Tree lined street. Lots of ranch style homes that are very well maintained. Typically hardwood floors, fireplaces, 3-4 bedrooms, upscale kitchens. Typically people who live in the neighborhood stay at least 5-10 years. When they do move, they tend to move to bigger or smaller homes in the same general neighborhood. SCHOOLS ARE GREAT here.

Fast, fast fast, but pretty, too.

Kellogg is pretty much your average crosstown expressway. It almost bisects Wichita, straying a little to the south of center, and is used as the quickest way to get from one side of town to the other. It differs in a very lovely way, however, in that it has some spectacular public art along the way, carved into the side of the underpasses. With quotations like "The journey is the reward" and "TIME discovered TRUTH" it's a very unexpectedly poetic drive.

Far-flung street on the edge of the West side

When I first moved to Wichita I had no real idea of the scale of the town. Someone gave me directions to a store on Maize and said "keep driving til you think you've gone too far, then a little more, and you'll be almost there." Very apt, given that I lived on the far East side. All in all, a nice, well-maintained road with lots of housing and commercial properties, just a little too removed from Wichita proper for my tastes.
4/5Good

Busy street with mostly commercial properties.

Short of a few scattered houses here and there, most of the living spaces on Rock are apartments. There are many, many housing editions that branch off from it but most of the actual addresses on Rock are retail, offices, or restaurants. Any homes there would face wicked traffic getting in or out, along with the accompanying noise. It's one of the larger streets on the East side of Wichita and used to pretty much be the edge of town, but the city has long since outgrown it as a boundary street.

View of the river in historic Riverside

Jeanette is a lovely little street. After wandering through Riverside and undergoing several name changes, it finally settles on Jeanette north of 13th Street. These are older, smaller houses with lots of charm, and all are within actual walking distance of the river, with views of it from many houses. There's easy access to the rest of Wichita since 13th is a major street, and also plenty of foot-accessible stores.

Family-friendly street with great value for your dollar

These older homes on the East side of Wichita are charming. In College Hill the prices are higher, but just head north and they drop in price without dropping in charm. It's very close to Wichita State University too. The overall feel of the street is working class, especially as you go north, with a tonier feel to the historical homes of College Hill. From mansions to bungalows, Terrace has it all.

Nice Quiet Little Street in Southeast Wichita

Green Acres really is the place you want to be! It has nice houses with a family feeling. Their are parks, shopping, and entertainment nearby. The houses are nice and the yards are well manicured. The area of town is what makes this a nice place to live. Your close to everything but not on top of it so it's quiet and peaceful. I regularly see children playing outside with their families.

Nice Quiet Street

Mt Vernon is a nice quiet street with shopping and schools nearby. The street is mainly used for residential housing so it's quiet to live on. But it is nearby all the shopping and entertainment you could need. The houses are developed and the streets are well maintained. I saw several families as well as children playing near this street. It would be a nice place to live.

Busy Street with nice housing nearby...

Harry is one of the biggest streets in Wichita. Its extends all the way from one side to the other. This is the main street that everyone goes to for shopping, dining, fun, etc. Everything you could ever want is located on this street. I don't recommend living on it due to how busy it is. But off Harry St. is numerous nice housing developments that I would definately suggest.

Nice developed street...

Oliver is one of the main streets in Wichita. Its make it easy to get to anywhere in the city from here. There is dining and shopping everywhere on the street. On Oliver their is something for everyone. The housing is neat and schools are nearby. I would recommend this place for singles, couples, as well as retired people.

Quiet Street near lots of shopping.

This street is a great place to live. It has nice housing and a quiet neghborhood. Their are sidewalks for people so they don't walk on the street and their is kids in the area. It's close to schools and their is shopping nearby. It feels like your away from the city, when really your right in the middle of it.

Cool place, Lots of Cheap homes

I was amazed to find that Oak Grove Road was littered with lovely townhomes and duplexes. I''ve considered moving here and this is an area i won't forget to look up. Nice city park and vendors, Its plenty for a retiree or children to busy themselves with. The street is very clean and cool. WIthin walking distance are local commercial businesses and small stores, it you don't like the mall crowd.

Quiet, Alot surrounding the area

I took my daughter to a local park right off of Powell Ave and she had the time of her life. We met plenty of local children and parents. My daughter got along with everyone just like her mom and had agood time. One of the fellow mothers showed where to get 25 cent Ice Mounds for the girls. The convienent store is located right around the corner. This stree is very small but clean and the people make you want to stay.

Its Ok to live, A little busy

My uncle lives of off Locust Ave and the overall feeling i get from the street is so-so. I mean the houses are nice but they are so jammed close together, you can here whats going on next door. There are many small businesses in this area that ive noticed. Daycares are a plentiful in this area. The people i met have been over extending their common courtesy to me.

Local Homes Businesses, Nice

Its many nice homes built along 42nd street. I notived with all the housing and beautiful duplexes, there wasn't a school nearby. The neighborhoods of this street are secluded within the trees. Interstate 635 is located right behind 42nd for the commuters. There is a local park with areas for children and adults. The overall street seems pretty quiet and the people seem willing to give you a helping hand. I wish someone could help me locate a Baskin Robbins

Busy Loads of traffic

This is one of the many expressways located in Kansas City to get you to many other places. Along with Johnnny Carinos Italian to fill your tummy. Its plenty of places to take care of a large appetite. Its a very nice city park not to far from here and the citizens seemed to be in their own world here. I visited the local Cold Stone Creamery and met all sorts of colorful citizens. The traffic here is very high.

Not much, quiet country

There isn't much to say about Quivira Ln. The path consists of trees and bushes. It looks like a small farm community. Plenty of fields and open space. The people i met at the local pub are very nice. I assume this is there only source of entertainment on a Friday night unless they travel into the city. Not many houses around but it makes up for that with its off the beaten path charm

Nice Clean busy area

This area is full of nice apartments and common eateries. The people i've met here so far seem to be pretty nice. Along with clean streets. The traffic here is between medium and low. Right around the corner is a metro area which is filled with shops and all sorts of finds. I was in search of a day spa but assume I would have to travel on the other side of town because ther isn't much of that nature over here.

From the duplexes to the Argentine, Strong Ave offers diversity.

I always loved living on Strong Ave. It offers so much variety. From the Argentine neighborhood to Turner, there was so much to do and see. The Santa Fe railroad yards nearby are fascinating. The local McDonald's had a caboose in the parking lot. The many Latinos in this area are friendly and family-oriented.

No Place Like Home

13002 Beverly St, Overland Park, KS is the place my husband and I decided to raise our 3 daughters. Located on a cul-de-sac in Deer Creek subdivision with a blue ribbon elementary school on the premises. We were able to walk our girls to school every day when they were younger. The middle school is located right next door to the elementary school.

Beverly Street is lined with trees and is located on a semi-private golf course. From our home located on the 3rd hole, we could see from tee to green. There is a private pool located on the premises.

Shopping is a short drive. An outdoor shopping center also features top of the line restaurants and premium shops. The grocery store is located within the subdivision also. The Hen House is like no other grocery store I have ever been to. Produce is fresh and the meat is wrapped by a real butcher. Service is outstanding.

Menorah Hospital is also near. The doctors and their staff are very caring and knowledgable. Beverly Street has close access to all major highways and most everywhere you need to be is 30 minutes away.

A great little town less than an hour from Kansas City

Ottawa KS has a population of about 11,000 people. It has a 4 year university and a 2 year community college. The downtown has an interesting flavor with old buildings with varied styles. The courthouse is often photographed since it is one of the oldest, most beautiful ones in the Midwest. It has a huge clock that chimes at noon on the Main Street side. There is a rail trail along an old railroad bed that provides walking and cycling in town and 25 miles to the south. There are several walking parks as well. Ottawa has long drawn people from Kansas City to shop in the antique shops and flea markets. Welcome recent additions to the downtown area are a Tea Room and a Gourmet Coffee Shop as well as a totally remodeled movie theatre.

Pleasant Lawrence Neighborhood

I stayed here during my two week stay in Lawrence, Kansas and had a wonderful time. The yards seemed very nice and the streets were clean. The neighbors behind and next to the house were all pleasant middle-aged people with children growing up. It isn't far from Main Street and located near some wonderful local markets and farmer's co-ops.
2/5Poor

Quiet, pleasant and off the beaten path

My street is a private lane the country that has only 3 houses on it. Everyone has 10 acres or more so we don't see our neighbors often. We are about 6 miles from town so it is close to go to shop, eat, etc., except that most things are on the other end of town so about 15-20 minutes for any shopping or resturants. But we like our entertainment! The deer, squirrels, turkeys, possum, coons, birds, etc. are much quieter, better behaved neighbors than some we have had of the human variety! We can sit on the decks and actually see the moon and stars without the city lights and hear the wildlife without the traffic and honking horns! WE LOVE IT and after 21 years here plan to stay forever!

Wonderful Street For Everyone

It’s unarguably the best street in the neighborhood. A great view of an open field in front where deer often roam. Great neighbors who are there when you need them but not the kind that pester you. Nearby is a small park for children and a neighborhood pool. Very quiet and a great treat for anyone fortunate to live there!

Quiet and Affordable, Westminster Court is Unique

Westminster Court is an essential part of the Westheight Manor National Registered Historic District. It's known locally as Westminster Court, although the P.O. street name is Nebraska Court, and is situated one block north of State Avenue, west of 24th Street in Kansas City, Ks.

The court consists of five detached single-family houses and four townhomes, all built in the English Garden City style. It is the only example of the style in the metropolitan Kansas City area. And, although it's just off the very busy main thoroughfare of State Avenue, it is very quiet.

Neighborhood public schools consist of Mark Twain Elementary, a half-block away, and Wyandotte High School, a block away. Neighborhood private schools are also nearby, within a half-mile: St. Peters Elementary and Bishop Ward High School, and are run by the Kansas City KS Catholic Church Diocese.

This block is very neighborly, with folks frequently visiting and helping each other out.

I really like living here.

A nice family street in an affordable town

I live on a street in a suburb of Olathe KS. It's quiet and affordable with great schools. My neighbors are mostly Moms and Dads with kids. They own their own homes and take good care of them. I'm close to school, parks, hospitals, stores and restaurants. The area is safe and the city takes good care of keeping it clean. The people are friendly and helpful. My ares has homes that are affordable compared to other parts of the country. There are no views of the ocean or mountains. I like living close to a big city (Kansas City) to get access to cultral and sporting events. The crime rate is very low.

My only complant is that because of the increase of people moving here the traffic and increase although the city is doing a good job of helping the situation but widening the main streets. My street is one of the main streets to get into the subdivision so it gets more traffic than I would prefer and when people park on the street that leads to more congestion.

Safe neighborhood for starter families

Many folks move here as a starter home. They are young couples looking to start a family and as their family grows they move to bigger homes in nicer neighborhoods. Some of us long timers have older children and have been here many years. The street is quiet, safe, pretty, well kept and friendly. The houses are 3 and 4 bedrooms and have nice big rooms with large bedrooms. The school is in the neighborhood and within walking distance, a nice bonus. You will enjoy it here!
4/5Good

Good street to raise a family

Mostly 4-bedroom homes built in late '90s-2003. Houses are spacious (2700-3100 sq. ft.) and affordable ($230-310K), but they all look basically the same - there's only a few different floor plans for all of the houses. Not much traffic, mostly residents and the occasional delivery vehicle. Lots of families with children under 10 years, lots of stay-at-home moms and white-collar dads. Most neighbors are friendly and supportive of each other without being intrusive.
