It's not gnarly crime that plagues the Garment District necessarily. There are too many people around all the time for heinous crimes to just break out in the streets. But, there are enough thefts, muggings, and assault situations in the area that I wouldn't call the Garment District safe. Even when there are people out and about at night, I hate walking through this neighborhood.
