"You can hear the clouds float by in our neighborhood!"

Lovely, friendly and neighborly would describe my street.
Oakwood Drive is located in a nice subdivision about three miles from the western city limits of Jasper, Texas; but, with a town of approximately eight thousand people, everything is relatively close to us.
Recreationally we are a mere 7 minutes from Martin Dies Lake, half an hour from Lake Sam Rayburn, and 40 minutes from Toledo Bend fishing. Lake Livingston is an hour away. Three rivers are nearby. National Forests are prominent in the area, as is forest industry land. Only about 15 percent of the land is available for city use, home building, and private use. The area remains a charming, off-the-beaten-track treasure.
Nature is the big draw for this Piney Woods destination. While we have most basic shops in our community, the diehard shopper would need to drive an hour or more to find a shopping mall. Sports are big in the community, as is religion. Summer gets uncomfortably hot, yet winters are great for being outside and taking part in recreational activities.
