HURRICANE ZONE...?

How costly and nerve wrecking is it to live in a hurricane zone? I.e.: Homeowners INS; Car Ins, relocating expense(s) during evacuation etc…

I have family in NW florida gulf coast area. They love it so much it is worth it.

You make choices knowing that this could happen. So you choose a house that is well built. You make sure that it is insurable, and that you carry flood insurance. And you evacuate. It is not worth staying.

If you cannot afford a well built house or the cost of insurance, then you need to make different choices. Maybe move further inland, but make sure your roof is up to date and your windows properly boarded. And evacuate if necessary.

Hurricanes are something that you can prepare for. Blizzards, tornadoes, earthquakes - that's something to be really afraid of.
