"A small little town in the northeastern corner of Colorado"

Crook is a small town located in the northeast corner of Colorado. With only 110 residents, there isn't much to do here. There is a small park for the kids right off of the main street, and a gas station, a post office, and several small businesses. The main roads through town are paved, but the streets with all of the homes on them are still dirt, making for quite a mess in the wintertime and when rain comes.

The largest industry in Crook is agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing. The median household income is $37,852 and the average price for a home here is $57,596, but this number takes into account mobile homes as well. Crook is just a couple miles off of I-76 so it's a convenient place for truckers to live. The nearest decent sized town is Sterling, which is about half an hour away.
Pros
  • very low cost of living
Cons
  • no amenities
  • dirt roads

"Crook is basically a Nebraska feeling place..."

Crook is a little NW Colorado town of about 150 people about 10 miles from the border with Nebraska. The town lies just north of I-70 and is not far west of where I-70 & I-80 meet in Nebraska. The trucking industry and agriculture is strong in the area, this is a remote area and people do not commute to any area cities, the Front Range communities of Colorado are hours away. The closest town is Sterling to the west on I-70.

The household income is about $30,000, a bit below Colorado average. The people are nice and the the area has a true country feel, more like the midwest than western really. But you will find your far share of cowboys.
Pros
  • very low cost of living
Cons
  • dirt roads
  • no amenities
