Cortlandt has great shopping. My family likes to visit the Barnes & Noble in the Town Center, because bookstores in general are difficult to find. This one has a really nice kids' section and a decent cafe, and a great selection of magazines. George's Island Park is also a great place for boating and fishing.

Cortlandt is home to Suny Cortlandt so right there you have an abundance of entertainment and educational possibilities including auditing classes, taking in interesting lectures, frequenting spirited sports games, visiting art exhibits and attending plays, concerts and recitals. There is a bowling alley called Cortlandt Lanes, a local campground at the Country Music Park & Museum, and a really funky and laid-back joint on Main Street called Blue Frog Cafe & Music Club which has wine, beer, amazing baked goods and really good live music and open mic sessions. There is also an outdoor Main Street Music Series which is fun and festive and helps promote very promising musical artists.
