"Dangerous inner city neighborhood"

There are some beautiful older homes in Central Hyde Park. In fact, some fairly famous names were associated with this neighborhood. The monument and the park on the South end are nice but that's really one of the last nice things to say about this area. Most of Hyde Park is bipolar in that there can be amazing homes with conscientious homeowners doing their best to maintain their home and property values but their neighbors on both sides will be crackheads or gangbangers. Central Hyde Park is no exception. Hemmed in by some of the more notorious streets in this part of KC, it's no surprise that crime is rampant. Make no mistake, if you live here, you will witness or be a victim of a crime at some point. Your vehicle will be broken into, license plates stolen or defaced and you will eventually have something stolen off of your porch or from inside your home. If you drive through the area, you'll see the beautiful old trees and see some of the stately older homes and likely think it safe. Don't let appearances fool you though, it really does stink there. I should have mentioned that you are relatively centrally located so it is easy to get around the city and that's good as you'll definitely not want to stay at home! There are nicer neighborhoods in the area with similarly inexpensive housing, easy access to the city and far less crime. Skip this one...
