The neighborhood is quiet, and although it tends toward older couples, there are many new families living in the area. Bandera Rd. leads strait to Loop 410 AND Loop 1604, both of which are the main arteries for San Antonio, which makes it one of the busiest streets in the city (if not the most!). The Shops at LaCantera, the newest and trendiest shopping center in San Antonio, is about 15 minutes away, as is The University of Texas, and the Palladium IMAX Theater at The Rim. The University of Texas Health Science Center, the best health center in South Texas, housing multiple hospitals and specialty health centers, is another 15 minutes away. A highschool and middle school are both easily within walking distance.
The Leon valley government is lacking in many ways, not the least of which is it's rampant desire to ticket anyone for anything. I've witnessed entire streets of cars being ticketed for parking the wrong direction in the street, houses being cited for having old fences, even people being ticketed for having old cars in their driveways (running cars, not "junkers")!
The Leon Valley Police department, is if nothing else, thorough to a fault.

Overall, a great neighboor hood with wide streets and freindly people. Just beware of Bandera Rd during rush hour!
