Hercules CityGuide

Hercules is a quiet, quaint, bedroom community. The police actually make eye contact and wave at you. They show up at Neighborhood Watch meetings and hosted a National Night Out BBQ - that was really pretty cool. This is a small town and has a friendly feel. We recently built a new library - that was the talk of the town for years. It's actually quite beautiful.

Our largest park is Refugio Park. It has a lake and playground...and plenty of space to rent for private parties. The City hosts a Cultural Fair every year - we have quite an ethnic mix here making it an interesting place to be. I enjoy attending our rather small 4th of July parade each year - it's cute to see the Hercules Piranhas Swim Team as the largest "float" entry.

Traffic in our main arteries isn't so bad yet, but with all the growth we are experiencing, and plans for future growth, I think it will become an issue if infrastructure isn't re-built.

Our claim to fame is Home Depot - big store - little town. We also have Shinsen Sushi - which is a long-awaited local hang-out with great food and excellent service. We need more places like this - we are in desperate need of "night life"!

Hercules is on the water and now that the Hercules Powder Plant area has been developed into housing...people can actually enjoy our waterfront. It still is undeveloped along the shoreline, but that doesn't keep it from being a nice place to sit and commune with nature...it's just not crowded now. : )
