The Coronado district as a whole is a really great, up and coming historic district in the Uptown Arts District in Central Phoenix. Every house has it's own distinct identity and the architecture is a great change from the cookie-cutter McMansions of the east valley (Where I use to live). The whole area is springing to life with great new independent Restaurants and Art Galleries popping up all over. Light Rail is soon to be open close to the area too.

As far as great places to grab a meal or a drink: the Roosevelt, La Calabria, and Cibo all come to mind as recent additions to the area. All three are excellent. Close by the house, (in walking distance) there is Lisa G's wine bar, Tres Quinc, Mac Alpines or the Coronado Cafe. It's also a short jaunt up the 51 to the Biltmore area.

On the con side, there is still an element in the neighborhood that is not productive and the police are useless. It takes forever for them to respond. Phoenix Police is roughly 230 officers shy of a full roster and it shows... A few gang bangers from around the area hang out in the park and the occasional drug deal takes place there. Break ins happen on occasion, but rarely on my specific street. Vandalism in the way of graffiti is always an issue. I've been tagged no less than 3 times in one year, but I've always been quick to cover it up. I wish my neighbors would do the same. Some of my neighbors are amazing. They made themselves known the day I moved in. I greet them in the street every morning and evening. Others are kind of, to themselves, and that's fine too. There is a "cat" lady on the street and at night there is the occasional cat fight in the street, but it all adds to the street's eccentricity. All in all, I love my street.
