Schools in NYC

NYC brags about having the best schools in the nation. Unfortunately, while claiming this, there have been a few times where kids have been killed while either on their way to school, or on school grounds.

Do you have any schools in your area that are safe? Have you heard of any violence at any school in your neighborhood? How safe do you consider schools in the city.

I believe the public schools located in my residential zone - P.S. 158 and P.S. 291 are quite highly ranked in the city's school system and until date I have yet to hear something adverse about them though many of the children who reside in my apartment building go to the private schools located in the area like Park Avenue Christian, Chapin and Brearley

Hey hhusted, there's a big fat list about schools in NYC on this forum already. Better post to that thread, it makes it easier to have an ongoing discussion than starting new threads all over the place.

Thanks, Uraniumfish, I forgot about that topic. Actually, I was gearing this topic in a different direction. That's why I posted it here. But if such a discussion is better served in the other topic area, I can leave comments there. However, since I am leaning in a different direction, I am curious to see who comments here and what is said.
