MTA Struggles to Make Security Upgrades
I don't know if you heard the news, but the MTA claims they ran out of money to pay for security upgrades that were ordered to be instituted since 9/11. Part of the plan was to install digital surveillance cameras and motion detectors. These have not been installed as of now. According to the MTA, they do not have the funding to continue.

This means the goal of keeping us safe when riding MTA has been put on hold for now. Despite not having enough money to complete the project, they did make several improvements including tunnels and bridges. These areas have been reinforced for protection from attacks.
