Get Groceries Really Cheap

If you are on a tight budget, you can save a bundle by shopping at Jack's 99 Cent Store. I went there recently and could not believe the bargains. If you haven't shopped there yet, you got to go. They have many locations:

Jack's 99 Cent Store/Jack's World on West 32nd Street
111 West 32nd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues

Jack's 99 Cent Store on East 40th Street
16 East 40th Street at Madison Avenue

Jack's World on West 45th Street
42 West 45th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues

Check them out and save money.

@hhusted I have been to Jack's World several times. Used to go there to buy cleaning supplies especially cheap floor wipes for my swifter which were always 99cents at Jacks and $5.99 at my local Duane Reade!

Another option I've noticed is cheaper than buying in stores (albeit not THAT cheap) is freshdirect. It's certainly far cheaper than my local groceries, and the fruit/veg/etc is absolutely delicious - much much better than anything I could buy in the city. And it's delivered, so it's easier to buy in bulk.

Yeah, I use FreshDirect many times. Another home delivery service is YourGrocer. They are more expensive than FreshDirect. They also don't serve in the same areas as FreshDirect does.

FreshDirect is great for the winter months, too, as it's not exactly a gratifying experience hauling a bunch of groceries around in twenty degree weather.

@everyone I know Freshdirect which was started by one of the brothers of Fairway fame is a great convenience but I love going to a grocery store and touching and feeling produce:) if you know what I mean? I guess this habit stems from my childhood when I used enjoy going to to the bazaars in Mumbai with my grandmother, ever since then all kinds of markets all over the world have fascinated me..

@uptowngirl I love love love going shopping for groceries as well. I think it is actually my favorite type of shopping experience, but then I love food perhaps more than any other modern commodity.

However, I hate the cold and therefore greatly appreciate FreshDirect.

@BroadwayBK I hear you but since I work from home I tend to regard my grocery shopping as a bonus outing but how I hate putting on layers just to step out that's why I revel in the NYC summers hot and humid they maybe but they are much more bearable than the bone chilling winters.

I hate grocery shopping, no matter what time of year it is. This is why I am glad to have FreshDirect deliver it for me.

I went to Whole Foods yesterday and completely loved every minute of it, no matter how much money I ended up spending.

Hey, if you love shopping, go for it. That is why there are so many choices offered in the city. You get to pick the way you want to buy groceries.
