Fires in Manhattan

A fire broke out in a Queens apartment building on Tuesday. The fire was the result of a candle. The fire occurred in an apartment building on 129th St in Kew Gardens. The resident fell asleep while the candle kept burning.

This brings up a point. There are fires that occur in the city every day. Some of these fires are preventable. What steps do you know can be taken to stop fires from starting? Have you seen any fires in your neighborhood, and if you have what do you know started the fire?

What has been the biggest cause of fire that you know about? I know one fire that occurred in the city not too far from my block a few weeks ago. That fire was caused by a lit cigarette.

I think I have heard the candle cause quite often now. No wonder given our love for sweet smelling candles and tea lights its bound to happen. Whenever I light tea lights or even floating candles in my NYC apartment I do make it a point to extinguish them before I go to bed for once became a statistic myself when my hair caught fire as I bent to light a tea light during a party in my apartment. Luckily for me my horrified friends drenched me in an effort to douse the flames.

Oh, my god. I hope you were not seriously hurt. That is why you have to be careful around fire. You never know when you will get burned.

This sounded so scary when I heard it, but a friend lived in a building that burned down. And they thought the cause was arson: the owner trying to collect on insurance. Crazy, no?

Oh, wow. That's sick. Trying to kill innocent people for the sake of money. How low can a person go.

Everyone got out alive, but then you think how easily someone could have died. And the fire was in the middle of the night.
