Contest Helps Brooklyn Residents Start Businesses

Recently, the Brooklyn Public Library in association with the Citi Foundation, joined together to award up to $25,000 to Brooklyn entrepreneurs.

Yep. I love the idea. It gets people involved, not only in their community, but it also helps them financially.

You gotta apply and spend some months researching to write a good business plan. I get the feeling the winners will be people who seem serious about doing the legwork and making a good case for why the business will be viable. That's half the battle anyway. Try it next year if you're feeling serious about it and think it might be how you want to make your income in the future.

@BroadwayBK: Anything worth trying is worth doing. I didn't hesitate when I started my full time writing business, despite some opposition. If you are passionate about it, go for it, especially if it helps your community.

@BroadwayBk go for it I say -you have nothing to lose and everything to gain and I love bookstores even in this age of kindles and ipads I love reading a few lines of a book/magazine every night before I retire.
