Coney Island: An Amazing Ride
I know there is a thread about Coney Island, but this topic deals with Coney Island from an historical perspective.
Think about it. Coney island was a sumptuous playground. It was known as the Sodom by the sea. It was the source of childhood dreams. And unfortunately, a sad reminder of bad times. But all this changed when a major real estate opportunity came around and that changed everything.
If you would like to learn all about Coney Island from when it first began till now, you will have your chance. Stuart Pertz, fellow of the Institute of American Architects, former chair of graduate urban design at Pratt Institute, and member of a Municipal Art Society committee on Coney Island will present Coney Island as you never saw the place before.
The event will be held March 12th at 1pm at the New School, Arnhold Hall on 55 W. 13th St., 2nd floor.
You will need to let them know if you are coming. Call 1-212-229-5682.
You can get the by the following means: L, N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, 6 to Union Square: F, L, V to 6th Ave./14th St.
I figured since we are planning to go there are a community of writers this summer or when it gets warmer, we should learn about the place first. This will give us even more reason to go so we can be a part of history.
