"Lakeshore Drive Hopkinton MA, Lake Maspenock"
The town of Hopkinton is blessed with 4 lakes and several small ponds and hundreds of acres of designated open space with marked walking trails and passive recreation.
Today I want to tell you about Lake maspenock and all it has to offer, (see map). I have lived in Hopkinton for 25 years and most of that time I have lived either on the lake or in the lake neighborhood. The lake is 2 miles long and is an all access lake, allowing all types of sports and watercraft. There is an abundance of fish and is host to several fishing tournaments throughout the season. TheLake is truly a 4 seasons of fun place, with winter ice fishing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. there is also access across the lake to Upton State forest and its network of trails. Sandy Beach is the town beach and it is a picturesque island complete with lifeguards, swimming lessons, picnicing and playground areas. There is an association, LMPA.org to help protect the lake and ensure it's continued enjoyment for all. There are several community events on the lake throughout the season, like the annual 4th of July boat parade, the "lake cleanup day" and the most popular - family fun day.
