"Entertaining Street to live on and not as bad as I thought it would be"

Wilcox is easily the most entertaining street I've ever lived on; it's in Hollywood, right between Santa Monica Blvd and Melrose Blvd, so you're a quick walk from your house/apartment to just about everything you need on a daily basis. CVS, Vons, restaurants, fast food, bus stops, laundromats, etc. Over on the Melrose side, lots of great little one-of-a-kind shops; on the Santa Monica side, a slew of small live theaters and clubs. Walk around the surrounding residential area and you'll find some charming old Hollywood apartment buildings and spanish bungalow style homes with beautiful gardens, a nice retreat from the noise and activity on the major streets. Great area actors and actresses on a budget, due to proximity of agents, theaters, casting directors, etc.

Best feature: Easy access to variety of amenities including bus, grocery, and live theater; walks in the residential areas are pleasant.

Be warned: Very active nightlife on Santa Monica, especially Thurs/Fri/Sat, and it sometimes spills over into the residential portion of the street.

"Awesome town, lots of drunk drivers though"

For being such a shady neighborhood, I have to say that I really love this town. Sure 1/3 drivers is drunk off their ass and parking your car on the street is a game of russian roullete. But; if you can look past the hookers, runaways, and occasional drug dealers - you will see a diamond in the rough. The people whom live here are so nice - move a mattress alone and someone will run out of their apartment to help you.

The close proximity to runyon canyon park is also worth mentioning as it provides some of the best hiking and dog watching to be found. Just don't go their too early, else you might run into lindsay lohan whom likes hiking at dawn (eewwww.)

"Hollywood Media District"

Surprisingly nice. Close to restaurants, grocery stores, CVS, coffee and shopping in Larchmont Village. Places to walk to. Hollywood Media District also has safety patrols out in cars and on bicycle, though I haven't seen much if any crime (other than some tagging).
