Hello KristinB, Here are some of my favorite local eateries (non-chain style and in no particular order): 1) Cracovia (8121 W 94th Ave) authentic Polish food. Never had Polish food? Try it as you will not be disappointed. Great sausage plates. Very flavorful and inexpensive. 2) Yak and Yeti's (8665 Sheridan Blvd). Although its sister restaurant in Arvada far exceeds our northern counterpart in terms of ambiance, the food at both places is stellar. Yak and Yeti serves Indian/Napalese style of food and you simply can not go wrong here. Their sweet potato masala and saag paneer are fantastic. Even my ultra-picky 6 year old loves this place. And don't forget to try one of their specialty crafted beers. 3) If you are in the mood for sushi, check out Hana Matsuri (2821 W 120th Ave). My wife and I used to travel to the Denver sushi eateries until we came upon Hana Matsuri. Now we can get our fill and save on gas and not feel like we are getting short-changed with a great dinner. I am truly impressed with the sushi chefs and the quality of fish they import. This is even a great spot for the "veggies" amongst us as their eggplant rolls and sweet potato rolls are amazing! 4) Finally, on those cold days when a nice big bowl of soup is calling, do not miss one of the two pho 79 restaurants located in Westminster. (3049 W 74th Ave and the other at 6650 W 120th Ave...ok, ok...so the location on 120th Ave is actually in Broomfield but is closer for me so I usually go to this location). Their broth is simply the best I have had. Their flavors are deep and complex but never overpowering. Their veggies are always fresh and the cuts of meat are very pleasant. I would love to write more, however, after writing this post my stomach is grumbling so I am in need to hit one of these places.
