There are also what they call campus to campus (C2C) busses that run from the NYC-based campus of Cornell to the main campus. And you could hop the Metro North train from almost anywhere in Westchester to get to the city.

The Short Line Bus does leave from both Cornell and the State Street Station and has a route to White Plains, NY. It takes about 6 hours and change. A Greyhound Bus will also take you from White Plains to Ithaca in anywhere from 8 hours and 25 minutes to 10 hours and 25 minutes, depending when you leave.
