Modjeska Park is one of the parks I have a lot of fond memories in. I remember as a child not being able to pronounce the name let alone even remember how to get there. To where as now as an adult I can’t believe how confused I was when I think about how easy it is to get there. The park stretches from Nutwood St. to Empire St. and has a large amount of grassy space ideal for small football games, soccer, games of catch or frisby. The surrounding neighborhoods are also idealic in that they are well kept, have beautiful lawns and you can sense the neighborhood take pride in maintaining its area clean and presentable. The park also has a basketball courts and small playground set for kids. I like that the benches are not too close together which allows for some privacy if you just need to spend some time alone. You can see women and their friends working out taking laps around the park even after dark which tells me the neighborhood should be fairly safe for them to feel comfortable doing that. I wouldn’t mind someday living in one of the homes surrounding the park when I’m ready to afford comfortable living.
