Whats it like living in the West Lawn neighborhood of Chicago?

West Lawn isn't the safest neighborhood, and I'd recommend avoiding it if possible. A buddy of mine lives in the area, and he has had his car broken into three times in the last two months, and in the time he's lived there he's heard gun shots repeatedly and someone was stabbed and killed right in front of his apartment building, so I don't recommend it.

West Lawn is primarily residential. It is home to Ford City mall, a very large and popular retail shopping center. There are also some great casual family restaurants. There is also a giant fiberglass Native American statue on top of what is now an eye glass business. This statue used to be over a popular cigar store and was featured in the movie Wayne's World.
