what to pack for Los Angeles in May?

I am visting Los Angeles in May for the first time.
I'm from Scotland so we get like no sun of hot weather ever!, I normally go on holiday to places like Greece so always pack shorts, bikinis and so on.
But would love if someone could help me out on what the weather will be like in May, if it will be warm enough to wear shorts and so on ?

Also if there is anything you recommend doing while im there :)?
