"Landscape Arboretum Chan/Victoria"

If you've never made a trip out to the Chanhassen/Victoria area to visit the MN Landscape Arboretum... you need to add it to your bucket list!

I attended a spring wedding there last year and it was spectacular. A lot of folks forget that it's a 4-Season Destination!

There are yard and garden classes, summer day camps, Mill City farmer's market, and did we mention 1100 acres to ski, snowshoe, hike, bike... or just relax and take in the sites and smells of one of the most beautiful areas in the metro!
Pros
  • MN Landscape Arboretum
  • Ice Arena
  • Deer Run Golf Club

"Victoria Homes & Real Estate"

Victoria is a city located in Carver County, in the state of Minnesota, US with a population of 7,345 as of 2010.
Michael Diethelm is said to be Victoria’s first settler after he settled up a shelter for his wife and children in the year 1851 close to the present day St. Victoria Church and it is where the name of the city was derived which was built on 30 acres of land in 1857 just north of Lake Bavaria. One year after, steamboats from St. Paul started bringing more supplies for the early settlers. The settlement had continued growing from early farmers attracted to the rich soil of the city. The steamboats to the St. Paul and Chaska railroad eventually helped in transforming the local area on its own growing community.
The total area of the city is 9.79 square miles in which 1.78 square miles is water and 8.01 square miles is land. The two main routes of the city are State Highways 5 and 7. Victoria is popularly known as The City of Lakes and Parks as it has more than two hundred acres of reserved land, nine lakes and thirteen parks within its borders. The city is also home to the Carver Park Reserve.
The rich soil of the city has attracted so many famers in the 1850s from Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. Its main cash crop was wheat but it also has other early crops including corn, carrots, cabbage and potatoes.
As of the 2010 census, there were a total of 7,345 people in the city, 2055 families and 2,435 households living in the city. Victoria is home to the Holy Family Catholic High School. The city is also served with District 112 schools.
There are many MLS listings for new properties for sale around the city of Victoria. Whether you are buying your first home, relocating, and downsizing or dreaming to own a new construction built home, Victoria is one of the best places to be.
The small town feel of the city is one of the reasons why more people decide to buy real estate properties in the area. It is a flourishing downtown business district which continued growing each year. There is a range of amenities where residents can dine, shop and have fun.
You will be impressed of the city’s wide open space. Carver Park Reserve and its natural beauty boast Lowry Nature center, Lake Auburn Campground, a wonderful dog park, and miles of biking and walking trails that are accessed on the city’s north side. There are also thirteen different lakes within the city limits which include the Southwest portion of Lake Minnesota so you are rest assured you can enjoy life on the water within minutes of your home.
On the city’s east side is the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum which welcomes visitors from around the country and the world. Its green winning gardens, walking trails, famous apple orchards and a great three mile drive through the property kept people coming back for more.

"Amazing small town...amazingly close to everything"

My husband and I moved to Victoria almost 3 years ago from South Minneapolis. It was quite the move but we were looking for a larger home, better schools for our children and a more neighborhood feel. We got all of that and more in Victoria. Victoria is the city of lakes and parks. Beautiful rolling hills, trees, parks, lakes, historic downtown. It really is beautiful and not as far from minneapollis as you might think. It's also very close to lake Minnetonka, Excelsior, Chaska, Chanhassen, Waconia, Eden Prairie and not that far from downtown.

Downtown Victoria offers a full grocery store, coffee shop, brewery, 4 restaurants and bars, flower shop, day care, fitness center golf course, gas station. Sounds pretty simple but it's so close to other larger cities that it's still nice to have everything so close by. There are many beautiful neighborhoods by lakes and golf courses. A lot of young families and professionals. Amazing town I'm so glad we chose Victoria!
Pros
  • Lakes and Parks
  • Beautiful Neighborhoods
  • Affordable large homes
Cons
  • Minimal Nightlife
  • 25 min from downtown
  • Not inexpensive
