Sand Lake Road is mainly known for having shopping on it, namely the Florida Mall. Florida Mall is one of the biggest in Florida and has a ton of shops. There's also a bookstore, several other small retail places, and has a rockin sushi place on the corner of Sand Lake and Orange Blossom Trail. It also connects up with International Drive, another hub of tourist activity.

...think carefully about living here. This street is entirely comprised of apartments and townhomes in one community. The management co is less than friendly, and often times takes threats of legal action to get work done. The neighborhood doesn't really feel cohesive, and everyone keeps to themselves. It's not a bad place to live, but it's hardly idyllic.

Colonial Drive (also known as State Road 50) runs the entire length east-west through Orlando. From near UCF in the east (with easy access to Waterford Lakes), through Winter Park (lots of shopping, plus a decent size mall, Fashion Square), then through Downtown and out past the fairgrounds (the fair is coming up soon, check it out). I enjoy coming to the little viet district around Mills Avenue for Dim-Sum occasionally.

Church Street in Downtown Orlando has long been the center of nightlife in the greater Orlando area. It's the place you go if you want to bar hopping, or clubbing. There are also some nice places to eat as well. Feel like clubbing? Check out Antigua (does a great 80's night) or the Dragon Room. Also here are the Vintage Lounge and Tryst Martini bar. Looking for some good food? Check out Cres' Chophouse. There are countless other small places, and even outdoor food vendors that work the weekend nights (and some weekdays).
