"Major East-West commercial route"

Pioneer Parkway leaves Fort Worth, Arlington's large neighbor on the west, shedding its name of Rosedale St, but keeping its identity as a major commercial route through the length of Arlington. . Well established as one of the main arteries crossing the city, the street shows its age with an abundance of businessses along the route reflective of time past, including used car lots, strip clubs, small manufacturers, auto repair shops ,etc. As it approaches the center of the city, the street begins reflecting the neighborhoods near it. The businesses change to grocery stores and restaurants, and small strip malls with banks and beauty shops and doctors offices, schools and churches. It assumes yet another name, Jefferson St, as it enters Grand Prairie, Arlington's neighbor on the east.

"Major, old, commercial street, part of old Arlington"

West Abram Street is part of the original Arlington city grid. On the far west end as it begins at the Fielder Street overpass, there are still large homes with spacious lawns, a block or two remnant of a upscale neighborhood of bygone days. This quickly turns to fraternity and soroity houses as you approached Cooper Street which marks the northern boundary of the University of Texas at Arlington campus. It crosses Cooper St and begins the small downtown area of Arlington, municipal buildings, library, utilities, etc, and as Abram St crosses Collins St it becomes a street of few major businesses, many mom and pop shops and eating establishments and as it approaches its end at Highway 360, the General Motors Truck Plant,a major manufacturer of cars and trucks.
