"not a desirable neighborhood."

West Tucker Street has many deserted, boarded up buildings and town homes. It is a fairly unsafe neighborhood that I would not recommend to live in or visit. It is close to various forms of public transportation, at least. There is certainly no reason for a tourist to visit this area.

"abandoned, urban decay feel"

West Oakdale street feels somewhat abandoned, with many empty lots, some grown up, and some bare concrete. It is not really a very safe area. This street is close to the Amtrak station (and bus and metro lines), which can be a pro, but the many train lines nearby can make it quite noisy.

"not the best area but not totally horrible."

West Sergeant street somehow does not have quite as bad of a run-down, dangerous feel as many nearby streets. There is less graffiti, damaged buildings and cars, and trash, the residents do take care of what their places look like. It is still not the best neighborhood in Philly, but is is not as bleak as many of the surrounding streets. People are friendly if you are from there, but if you are not from the neighborhood prepare to be stared at!

"don't go here!"

West Colona Street, is, unfortunately, another derelict street in north central Philadelphia. This area does not have much going for it, I would not visit or live here if I had another alternative. Graffiti, overgrown empty lots, construction, and a generally unsafe feeling permeate the area. I wish it had something going for it, but it really does not.

"no, no, no."

I hate saying this because I am all for urban renewal and giving run-down older neighborhoods a chance, but this is really a rotten neighborhood. Very run down and junky, trash, graffiti, busted in doors and windows, etc. I would avoid West Nevada Street for sure. It is not a very safe area to visit, especially at night or for an out of towner.

"not a great neighborhood"

West Huntingdon Street is another typical street in this area of North Philly. It is not horribly dangerous, but I wouldn't really recommend visiting or living in this area. It is not very attractive, mostly run down older brick townhouses in varying degrees of urban decay. It is convenient to a couple of metro stops and Temple University Hospital. It can be noisy at times.

"don't go here if you can avoid it!"

I would avoid this neighborhood like the plague. Overgrown vacant lots, abandoned cars, boarded up windows, and graffiti on buildings characterize West Firth Street. It is not a neighborhood that you should go to unless you have to, but then it is not in an area that tourists would visit, or even locals for that matter as there is really no shopping or restaurants to speak of.

"not a good area of Philly"

West Boston Street is a short street off of North Broad St. in north Philly. You can see that the older brick town homes have some potential to be fixed up and fairly nice looking, but this is not a desirable neighborhood. It is not horribly unsafe during the day, but I wouldn't choose to go there at night, there is not much nearby to attract anyone to visit this area anyway, unless you live here.

"Avoid this area"

West Dakota Street is a short side street in northern Philadelphia. It is quite run down, the definition of urban decay. There are vacant lots and deserted, non-running cars on the street. This street is not very safe, do not go there at night, and I would not consider living here if you have other alternatives. It does not really have many redeeming qualities, sorry.

"derelict street, has potential."

West Arizona Street is very run down and derelict, and somewhat unsafe, but the sad thing is you can tell it has potential as an interesting neighborhood. The short street consists mostly of older, historic town house style homes that could be nice if fixed up a little. This street is in northern Philly and fairly close to metro stops. I would avoid this area.
