"My Old Street.."

"Channel Street creeps me out."

There is something about Channel Street that really really creeps me out. I think it reminds me of New Jersey, or something. It's just desolate, lonesome and out in the middle of nowhere. Anything on the outskirts of a college campus (UCSF Mission Bay is nearby) freaks me out. But thankfully there is public transit to get outta there quickly. AT&T Park is nearby too, so sometimes traffic is CRAZY!

"Not a lot goin on here."

Just yet another residential street! I am so surprised that more great restaurants haven't infiltrated this neighborhood because the weather is pretty amazing (being protected to a certain extent from the fog), but finding a really lovely meal is difficult and, in fact, I haven't managed it yet. The traffic and getting around is a little bit difficult, I guess everyone who lives here is driving out to find something to eat and something to do. It's not my favorite area, but it's not terrible either.

"Evidently, there is great nightlife!"

I am in this area primarily during daylight hours, so I had no idea that it is apparently known for its nightlife. Morris is a residential street, but nearby you can find great venues for music, dancing and drinking, but not a lot else. I haven't found a decent breakfast joint in the area and it's a little disheartening. Still and all, some people say that the area is pretty great. I am generally just commuting through, but the people have always been nice, so that's a plus.

"A little offshoot in a dicey area."

I tend to dislike the whole area around here, and Hampshire is a really sterling example of why that is. It's noisy, the air feels unhealthy and it's very dirty in the whole area. I think that the area is dicey and I always get an uneasy feeling being around there. It's just a neighborhood, but I always get the feeling that there are shady dealings going down. The expressways and freeways nearby are unsightly and noisy and I just don't like being there! No disrespect to the people, the ones I met were nice enough.

"Unbearably noisy!"

I don't know if it's just the fact that the 101 is right next to the street, but I found myself getting a headache every time I'd ride my bike down Kansas from the constant background noise. I just can't stand that kind of ceaseless noise and bother, also the traffic in the area is just madness! It seems like I'm the only one who's noticed it, but it's definitely there! Also, there seems to be an appalling lack of interest in sharing the road with bicyclists in the area.. and dodging dogs on the road is not my favorite hobby, but there is an almost humorous number of dogs to chase you when you're riding by.

"I dislike this area so much!"

I have never in my life run into more miscreants and total jerks than on King Street. It is absolutely awful, and it is what made me realize I had to leave Potrero. I had a bottle thrown at me in the Safeway parking lot and an insurance scam was perpetrated against me with someone walking in front of my car. Total rubbish! I really wanted to like it there because some of the people were totally awesome, but the lack of good restaurants, the problems I had, and the terrible street traffic was enough to chase me away.

"The best part is the Dance Academy students."

The one good thing I can say about Carolina Street is that you get to see Dance Academy students in their practice uniforms walking around the neighborhood...apart from that it's not my favorite spot in the city. It's a little on the noisy side, drivers and traffic are utter madness and the streets are seldom ever cleaned. It's kind of a little distressing to visit the area sometimes, with the dog poo on the sidewalks and such. But I lived there out of convenience, so you take what you can get.

"The name says it all."

Never in my life have I run into country bumpkins in the City, but you will find them on Arkansas Street. It's kinda an inside joke between myself and my friends because we ran into someone straight outta Deliverance on Arkansas one time, haha. No, it's a nice spot, way out in the neighborhoods. The only problem is that there seems to be a lot of noisy dogs, like little yipping dogs that are constantly barking. Pretty annoying, but the park is right there and there are some schools in the area, if you have kids.

"Not bad, not great"

Connecticut Street is not the greatest area in Potrero, but then again I might be biased because I don't really dig living over here. I have found the traffic to be ridiculous (well, it IS San Francisco, afterall) and the drivers seem to be even less considerate than the rest of the city, which is really saying something. On the plus side, Jackson park is nearby which is good if you have a dog that wants to run on grass every now and again. It's just a neighborhood area, not much excitement, but the neighbors are ok.
