"Another charming 'driveway' neighborhood"

Saint Michael Drive is another one of those peculiar driveway streets in Whitman that has the lawns and private parking. These kind of homes in Philly are hard to come by, but the neighborhoods are always a joy to frequent through and meet the neighbors. My best experience in the neighborhood has been with the residents of these streets. Anyone interested in horticulture should meet up with the neighborhood planting experts or check out the lawns and florals.

"Developing fast and well"

Many Whitman neighborhoods still hold the charm and traditions of South Philly Italian homes, but gentrification too has begun to affect East Oregon Ave. The prices are slowly rising as new developments continue to occur in the area. The large South Bowl opening up right nearby Tony Luke's has really driven the nightlife of the neighborhood. The Oregon Diner, coming ShopRite and coffee shop, as well as influx of young professionals and new restaurants suggests Oregon Ave may be the new up and coming district in the Whitman neighborhood of South Philly.

"Beautiful lawns"

I love the christmas lights during the winter and the different blooms the neighbors grow during the spring. This Whitman area has very refreshing neighborhoods and vibe in an otherwise busy urban city.

"Nice and safe neighborhood for families and young professionals"

My girlfriend works at the Navy Yard and I just started working in Center City so we decided to find a good neighborhood that allows easy access to both our jobs. The public transport here is good, with easy access to the freeway; and living so close to Oregon Ave lets us easily get all our shopping done and gives us many dining options. I live near the Murphy Recreation center, which has been a god send because my girlfriend loves aerobics and I like to play the occasional basketball and soccer. Some of the homes we initially looked at were small, but we found a nice family home with two private parking spots in the back.

The best part is that the prices are way cheaper than the apartments right outside Center City. These homes are more spacious for a portion of the price, but still gives us access to transportation. Plus, the neighbors are so friendly that it feels almost suburb like again.

I'm still on the lookout for the best bar, as there are a lot of dive bars here and I'm looking for more of a date night hangout place. I would appreciate recommendations for a date night!
