"The Country Life"

I grew up in this neighborhood and I still go back to visit often. I loved it and will probably be moving back there soon. This is a great place to raise children! Henry county has some of the highest test scores in GA. The neighborhood is quite and peaceful. It's a mixture of retirees, couples and families with kids. Just enough mix to make the neighborhood interesting. Cochran Park is about seven minutes away from Wilson Ave and Stockbridge Medical Center is seven to ten minutes away from the street.

The only negative that I would have about the community of Stockbridge and the Wilson Ave area would be the shopping, restaurants and lack of malls and diversion. As a child there was not a lot of things to do as far as entertainment is concerned and that still hasn't been dealt with. The closet mall is probably twenty five minutes away. The nearest movie theater would probably be the next town over which is Mcdonough. I would say that if that doesn't bother you and you are looking for an area to move in this is a absolutely terrific place to raise a family or retire.

"Inner City Blues"

I lived in this area about six years ago and when I did it was not a good area to live in. Even though it did have some positive such as it was five minutes from downtown Atlanta. Which means it was close to the night life and great restaurants. It's also close to hospitals and anything else that you could imagine. It's also located close to the historic Grant Park area, it's minutes away from the King Center and Zoo Atlanta. The location is also close to Turner Field. You are also less than twenty minutes from the Aquarium, the World of Coca Cola, Underground Atlanta, Philips Arena and so much more. This was most definitely the best thing about the area.

But, as far as the neighborhood itself was concerned the crime rate was ridiculous! My home was broken into on numerous occasions and there was a lot of gun violence. It was so bad I was forced to move my children out of the community. I was very afraid and concerned for our safety.

""Nice Area with Drawbacks"

Waldrop has the ability to be a beautiful neighborhood. Everything that you need to raise your family is nearby. The hospital is about twenty five minutes away. There are a lot of fast food restaurants around but, quality fine dining restaurants are not close as I would like. In order to get fine dining you would have to go downtown Atlanta, Buckhead or one of the surrounding areas. There are four malls close by. South Dekalb mall which is less than five minutes from this neighborhood. North Dekalb mall is about fifteen minutes away. Stone Crest mall is twenty minutes away. And Northlake Mall is about twenty minutes away also.

There are plenty of walking trails close to the area and Stone Mountain Park offers a superb walking and hiking trail. Stone Mountain Park is twenty minutes away.
The closet hype area for the nightlife would be downtown Atlanta or Buckhead.

As far as everyday concerns and needs this is really a great area because you can grab a quick bite to eat, get a class at Perimeter College, grab some groceries at Publix, Kroger or one of the neighborhood markets. The schools in the district rank pretty well in the Ga listings.

Also the crime rate in the area has gone down considerably, the only negative that I would say about the area is the value of the property is going down because of the housing market and a lot of investors are coming in and buying the properties. After doing this they are leasing or renting out the properties and as far as I've seen a lot of renters don't care about the property which is causing the appearance of the neighborhood to go down.

"Out of the way spot"

Blazing Pine Knoll is located off of the normal path of traffic. So in that essence it is most definetly quiet. But, it's located next to a main road so even though you have to go quite a distance to get here from the main road. On the other side of the trees is a street and we can hear all of the traffic. Also the development has went into disrepair. Teneants didn't want to pay the association dues. So the homeowner assocation was disassembled. Therefore there are huge potholds in the street all over the neighborhood. The playground has been broken down and in disrepair.

Even though this neighborhood was intended for families I would not recommend it for people with small children. Because there is nowhere for them to play. There are a few sidewalks though. Most of the kids in the neighborhood play in the streets.

It is a convient location located close to South Dekalb Mall, three grocery stores, pharmacy and a park is about ten minutes away.
