"Not your cookie cutter suburb"
Waukegan is a culturally diverse lakeside community. It has the feel of a Chicago neighborhood with a beautiful mix of older historical homes and right on Lake Michigan. The residents of Waukegan mostly consists of hardworking middle income families. There is a strong sense of community in Waukegan. There is also a bustling underground arts scene. Waukegan also boasts a commendable public transportation system consisting of the Metra, Pace and a sizeable taxi network. If you are a city dweller who is tired of city driving (and parking) and simply do not care for living in a pretentious suburban community made of cookie cutter match stick homes, Waukegan is the place for you.
