"Same town, new decade"

I currently live in Arvada, I moved here because it was an affordable area without being too far from Denver or the Mountains. I would prefer to live in the more recently developed areas out west of Indiana but get more bang for my buck in my 1960's updated home. Arvada is making changes to make the town more modern. These efforts can be seen in Olde Town Arvada where renovation has rejuvenated the local market and the nightlife. The scene is not out of control like in LODO but rather neighbors enjoying an evening “in towne”. There are enough restaurants around that I still have not tried all of them. Another area that will see upcoming improvements is near 58th and Independence. Though that will not be completed for some years, it should coincide with the light rail line that will arrive soon. Arvada also has done well with providing recreational areas through APEX.
Pros
  • close to mountain
  • reasonable real estate prices

"Growing up Applewood"

I am biased for Applewood. I spent my adolescence growing up in Applewood and have spent my adult years describing how it has held on to its charm. The reason people move to Applewood is for the peaceful neighborhood, mature trees and unique homes. Not to mention good schools and shopping. Although it doesn’t have a central downtown like LODO or HIGHLANDS, that is not why families choose this neighborhood. The past few years have been difficult for Applewood compared to the new tract housing, however you won’t confuse your house for your neighbor’s house either. Today it still holds quite a good value for what it delivers. Homes are mostly upper end and pride of ownership abounds. Neighborhood parks are tucked away, local pools are crowded with kids, and trees shade most every home. Yes, I-70 does run through the area but there is also a mall near by, business parks, and easy access to the mountains or downtown. Hike the Mesa, Tour Coors Brewing Co., and hang out in downtown Golden which is also close by. By far one of my top ten neighborhoods in west Denver.
Pros
  • Easy Access to Downtown
  • unique homes
  • close to mountain
  • recreation
  • safe
