"Mosholu Village Business Area"

This little "weird" block that someone reviewed just because it breaks off into other avenues, is awake and getting better. With a new pizza place where the interior decor is modern and cute, everything else as business storefronts become available will just keep going up.
There is now a new hardware store where the owner is friendly and informative.
There is an all male barber shop that looks pretty hip and seems like it's busy during certain parts of the day.
There is two Chinese food take-out places.
There is a new under management Latin hot food place.
There is a Mexican/grocery store
There is Korean grocery store
and then there is the liquor store, discount store, tax service place, large laundry, community board 7 office, church services, real estate service, two hair salons and nail salon. A few more things here and there.
Not bad for the two blocks.
Several new trees have been placed on the block.
I can see this as an up and coming Mosholu Village Business area since it literally faces Mosholu Parkland with a sitting area at the beginning of the block.
Some of the small brick apartment buildings over these stores can be purchased and made into business offices.
A great opportunity for new business to come in and offer something different that compliments the residents and it's neighbors.
A good area to come get something to eat after visiting The New York Botanical Gardens and the D train is up the block for when you are done sight-seeing the area.
Pros
  • New trees on the block
  • several eating options
  • area is not that bad anymore with residents being more active
  • Plenty of stores
  • Lots of green space available by Mosholu Parkway

"Vibrant Transitional Community"

Confusing street number it is as mentioned before but the East 205th between Grand Concourse and East Mosholu Parkway South with a small cross street named Lisbon Place, is a growing transitioning community with diversity in cultures and in housing with a mix of apartment buildings mixed in with single and multi-family cute homes that decorate their front porches according to the seasons.

The East 205th Street has a Block Association that was started by property owners on the block to better improve the curb appeal and beautify the neighborhood for it's residents. Just recently the block became tree-lined with an addition of 9 new trees with pending tree guards to protect them coming soon for 2013 and 2014. It's a mixed income neighborhood with a new building on Lisbon Place creating this niche of a community. Mosholu Parkway is the backyard of this community with a new focus to conserve the parkland, improve, protect and beautify with a new Friends of Mosholu Parkland also in it's infancy of formation. Residents on this block vary from professionals, to small business owners, to students, and even low income. It's a good mix that balances this changing community. Tenants here have lived on this block for over 20 years with property owners being here over 40 years and one of them being here 80 years. A forward movement is in effect.

Business around the corner on East 204th are also being watched over by the residents on East 205th since it's the closest shopping around. Four new trees have been planted on East 204th with the request help of residents on East 205th street. Residents and property owners are actively encouraging new small business to come into the area and introduce new products and services that the residents from East 205th could benefit from.

It's not Manhattan and it shouldn't be. It's the place you go to after you come back from Manhattan to get out of Manhattan overwhelming chaos. This is a residential area that could be the next up and coming borough neighborhood like a Williamsburg in Brooklyn that was even a worse neighborhood and look at it now with the help of committed people.

Great for commuting into Manhattan since it's a 3 to 7 minute walk to the D train and 4 train. The Norwood section that houses two major hospitals and business areas are within a very easy reach.
Tourist area; Botanical Gardens, Bronx Zoo, Arthur Avenue Little Italy, Fordham Shopping area.
It's a pretty block with caring and environmental conscious people and though there is still issues to work on, it's a great place to live on a budget and an ideal place to welcome a new Mosholu Village of trendy coffee shops, diners, tea lounges, with the help of Manhattanites and Brooklynites that are now coming to this area for varies reasons.
Pros
  • Tree lined block towards green landscape parkway land
  • East 205th Street Block Association
  • Great mix of apartment buildings, single and multi-family houses
  • Plenty of stores
Cons
  • Street was designed in a weird way
