Kenyon Street is in the middle of Hartford's "Historic West End." First developed in the late 1800s, houses range from 2500 sf Victorians to 6000 sf Georgian homes, most of which have large front porches that everyone uses.

Elizabeth Park is two blocks away; many different (Irish, Ethiopian, Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, coffee house/martini bar, Japanese/Korean, etc.) restaurants are within a 6 block radius, as are a bank, a seasonal farmers' market, two drugstores, an art gallery, two funky clothing stores, and a dry cleaner. We are within a 10 minute walk of the University of Connecticut School of Law, Connecticut Culinary Institute, Hartford Seminary, the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center; and we are a short bus ride or longish walk from the train/bus station that will take you into Boston or New York.

Local public schools still face big challenges, but there are excellent parochial, charter and independent schools nearby. The neighbors run the gamut from same-sex couples without children to single professionals to heterosexual families with school-age kids. The mix of residents, unlike the homogeneity of typical suburban streets, make this a lively, interesting place to call home.

Mainly, this is a neighborhood that pulls together to get things done, and we have a good time while doing so! We are working with the city of Hartford to calm traffic on Kenyon, reduce the litter, and improve the streetscape along Farmington Avenue. Check out www.kenyonstreethartford.org
