"A Great Place to Visit for All Ages"

West Ridgewood Avenue has a charm that has been in place since the 1950's. While enjoying a retail hub in this suburban neighborhood, shoppers can find chain retail stores like the Gap nestled alongside more specialty shops such as Happy Feet or The Jewelry Box. This is a safe, bustling neighborhood that caters to its visitors every day except for Sundays, when the Bergen County blue laws are in effect and retail stores are closed. You CAN, however, sneak in to the popular Bookends bookstore that hosts many a celebrity for book signings--that store is open on Sundays.

Hungry? There are nearly a hundred eateries to tempt your palate if you visit this wonderful street. Ranging from Japanese, Chinese, Greek, Italian, Turkish, Moroccan, American--the cuisine is as varied as the diners. It isn't uncommon to see people waiting in line on warm summer evenings to dine at Fratelli's Trattoria or Sakura Bana restaurants. Many of the restaurants have dining al fresco, which is very popular once the weather cooperates.

Parking can be difficult because this is such a popular destination for those who wish to shop, see a movie in the movie theater on the street, browse stores, or take a relaxing stroll up and down the avenue. Bring coins for metered parking; some valet parking is available on the weekends in designated parking lots, but be prepared to pay a hefty fee.

Ridgewood Avenue has a popular street fair that attracts all ages, as well as a holiday event complete with a tree lighting, carolers, and more festivities. It is a lively, entertaining street that you should visit if you ever find yourself in the area!
