"Good place to Rent, but not buy"

December 2007: As many people know, the cost of living is very high in the SF Bay Area. Home prices are very expensive in Mountain View and on Easy Street. However, if you are looking for a nice place to live while you RENT, Easy St is a good choice. It's relatively affordable compared to other parts of Mountain View, and not far from all the good/great restaurants in downtown Mountain View. It's a relatively quiet street at night, even if it has a fair amount of traffic. Easy Street is lined with a lot of trees and bushes. However, some of Modesto Ash trees on the street are starting to die (they have a life span of 40 years, and have been on the street for 55+ years as I understand). So, in the coming 5 years, I would guess many of them will be replaced by the City of Mountain View. As far as neighbors, the ones who happen to live right next to you make a point to be friendly, but the rest tend to mind their own business and keep to themselves. Some of the residents have lived on the street for more than 30 years. It's rare that there are any problems or crime. Internet access is very high speed (6 mbs) through cable, and Google has provided FREE internet access throughout Mountain View. (Though this tends to get a bit slow sometimes during weeknight evenings and on weekends). M.V. Schools are above average quality in the Bay Area. Public transportation options are many, although most people tend to drive anyway. Whisman park on Easy Street is a very large, enjoyable park with tennis courts, a soccer field, a place for dogs to run about, and even basketball courts behind a local school next door. In the back of the park, there is access to Stevens Creek Trail, which is a trail for runners, bicyclists, roller-bladers, etc that runs from El Camino Real in central/south M.V. to the Shoreline park area and the San Francisco Bay. My wife and I have lived on Easy St. in M.V. for over 10 years.
