"Disappointed"

Westminster Ave or Street is a small street with three homes. We bought our first home impulsively and completely regret buying on this street. Trash pick up is messy. So every Wednesday after trash pick up, our street looks like trash-alley. Our family goes out and picks up a good trash bag full of debris to try to make the street look a little better. We realized that we were moving in directly across the street from "Affordable Housing." We have no problem with that. But the cops are there constantly. We have witnessed domestic arguments, armed cops running after suspects and using our cars as shields from suspects. The language that comes from the adults and sadly the children is completely inappropriate. The 3 homes on Westminster Street have fenced-in yards. It provides a false sense of security. Neighborhood kids jump our fences and run around our backyards when we are not home. They help themselves to everything in our yards, including swimming pools, hot tubs, using the trampoline and grabbing any toys eft out and taking them. It is not a quiet or peaceful neighborhood. Westminster Street is located right off Rt 110 and also very close to Rt 495 and Rt 95. You can constantly hear the Highway and also sirens from cop cars, fire trucks, ambulances etc. There are very pretty parts of Amesbury, unfortunately we did not choose a home in one of those parts. We are not particularly pleased with the school system. It takes A LOT to be "heard." We have one special needs child and it took drastic measures and an educational advocate to finally get them to begin to accommodate us. There is a lot to do in Amesbury. There are cute shops and boutiques, restaurants, athletic facilities, parks etc. The downtown area is very nice. Don't do what we did and buy quickly because we were pressed for time. We fully regret purchasing this home. To be safe, check in with the PD before buying and ask what a particular neighborhood is like. We do recommend living in Amesbury, just take your time when looking for a home.
