"Perfect place to be close to the city and raise a family"

DeRussey Parkway is located less than half a mile from Washington DC line in Chevy Chase, Maryland and is considered by many to be one of the ‘classier’ streets in the surrounding area. Running just off Wisconsin Ave, this beautiful stretch of road is ends on a very nice cul-de-sac and it is an ‘ideal’ place to live that is close "Maryland Rodeo Drive" of shopping, health services, museums, theaters, Kennedy Center, and various public transportation.

When walking down DeRussey Parkway in Spring and Summer, the first thing you notice is the green canopy that overhangs the road. If you like greenery, then you will love it here. DeRussey Parkway also has a mixture of old and modern architecture, so anyone suited to today’s chic visual living styles would be well suited here. Many of the houses in the street are two to three stories and have moderately spacious living areas. Pools and tennis courts are not that common, mainly due to the smaller land allocations. But this isn’t a problem for most as Chevy Chase Norwood Park Recreation Center is only a minute walk down the road and has tennis courts, swimming pools and gymnasium.

During the week, DeRussey Parkway is like most in the area…quiet and comfortable. There is very little noise from traffic and it’s a great place to live for couples and small families. On weekends DeRussey Parkway is full of life and activities. Just around the corner is Downtown Bethesda, and Chevy Chase Pavilion which is a quaint Mall of cafés and boutique eateries. Perfect for Saturday afternoon coffee’s and Sunday brunch, the quiet locale pleases most. Also located just five minutes from DeRussey Parkway is the Mazza Gallery Mall and Wisconsin Fashion Boutiques. Not too big and not too small, this mall of shops houses some of Washington DC’s finest retail chains especially when it comes to fashion. The Mazza Gallery Mall also houses a 7 Cinema complex and arcade entertainment area which is very popular with the under 20’s crowd on Saturday nights.

At the west end of DeRussey Parkway is Noowood Park. This is a great area for taking the kids on the weekend and having a nice Sunday afternoon BBQ and there is also children’s playground to keep the young ones occupied. Although generally quiet during the week, the barbecues are very popular during the summer months so it is advised to get there early on weekends to make sure you don’t go hungry.

Getting around is a breeze from DeRussey Parkway as well. Just 10 minutes down the Wisconsin Ave in Washington DC is the Union Train station which connects you to most of the city. Bus lines also run from the station weekdays between 7:30am and Midnight, and on weekends from 9:00am to 7:00pm. Washington Reagan National Airport is about 9 miles away from DeRussey Parkway.

Overall DeRussey Parkway has a great feel about it. It’s fantastic all year round with green trees combined with modern and traditional architecture. Housing mostly young couples, often seen at Noorwood Park with the children for a weekend BBQ, DeRussey Parkway in Chevy Chase is a real find that I’m sure most would find very hard to beat.
