"Nice Residential Area"

Harvest Lane is on Toledo's west side. It is in the Washington Local School District, which is a much preferable alternative to Toledo Public Schools. It is almost entirely residential property consisting of older single family homes. There are a few multifamily properties, but not many. There is a branch of the Lucas County Library on Harvest Lane, as well as parks and ball diamonds for the kids. At either end of Harvest Lane, it provides access to major East/West arteries in the city with easy access to lots of banks, restaurants, shopping, fitness centers, and gas stations.

"Historic District Collides with Inner City"

Scottwood Avenue makes me sad. It is part of the historic Old West End district in the city of Toledo and has some the most architecturally significant homes in the city. Unfortunately, the poverty and crime from the inner city have crept to the borders of the Old West End. Turn off of Scottwood Avenue, and you are in some of the worst sections of town. If you love old homes and beautiful architecture, you might want to invest in a good security system and live in this area. It is also close to the Toledo Museum of Art and downtown Toledo. I wouldn't recommend raising children on Scottwood Avenue.

"Neighborhood is Heading Downhill"

Hill Avenue runs East to West through the city of Toledo. The eastern end is predominantly commerical and industrial businesses to include lumber yards, junk yards, etc. On the western end of Hill Avenue there are more residential stretches consisting of apartment complexes and single family homes that appear to have been built in the 1960s and 1970s. In recent years, these areas have decreased in value. Also, my friend the cop tells me that crime has risen significantly in this area in the last 20 years. The street lives within the Toledo Public School system which is not your best education option in the Toledo area. Your children would receive a better education from one of the suburban school districts.

"Main North/South Artery through Toledo's West Side"

Secor Road runs South from the Ohio Michigan border into Toledo. Although there are some residential areas, including apartment buildings and single family homes, it is predominantly filled with commercial enterprises. There are a variety of gas stations, banks, shopping centers, medical facilities, and restaurants along Secor Road. The southern end of Secor Road also passes along the West side of the University of Toledo Campus. The dining experiences along Secor consist of fast food restaurants and family fare. There is not much in the way of "fine dining" in this part of Toledo. There are also a few bars and night spots, but again these are more neighborhood bars and taverns as opposed to high end night clubs.

"Quiet but Close to Main Streets"

Foth Drive is a wholly residential street that runs North from Alexis Road to the Ohio Michigan border. It is predominantly older, single family homes (no apartment complexes). It is in the Washington Local School District, which has received high academic ratings from State Education officials. Once you turn from Foth Drive onto Alexis Road, you are a stone's throw away from gas stations, restaurants, banks, and other businesses.
