Turtle Bay, New York City - good neighborhood for families with kids?

It's ok. I tend to not think of Midtown East and the Upper East Side as particularly picturesque. They're mostly comprised of massive buildings and a lot of businesses. There's not a ton of green and there's no real neighborhood feel outside of Sutton Place. It is a bit sleepier in Turtle Bay, though which makes it better for kids and a lot of people have them there. Transportation leaves much to be desired on the East side as well. I don't know . . people do it but I think Turtle Bay is kind of depressing and too commercial for little kids.
