"Huge apartments in tenement buildings"

Stuy Loop North is the northern loop of the Stuy Town residential complex. It borders Peter Cooper Village (the more expensive Stuy Town by the same owners) and is just a few blocks away from Gramercy Park. The Northern Loop is nice because it is so close to great neighborhoods: Gramercy Park, the East Village and Flatiron are all just a few blocks away. But, it's a bitch getting to public transportation from here which is really only a serious problem when you're running late or during the winter (so, basically, it's a serious problem half the year).
The complex is really nice and the apartments are massive, but people do complain that it can loud because are so thin and a lot of students rent out one bedrooms and throw up an extra wall to make a decent sized / priced two bedroom. With the students come the late night gab sessions and parties that a lot of the young, yuppie families in the complex aren't thrilled about. And, a lot of people complain that while the apartments are big and look really nice, they were remodeled cheaply and there's a pest problem as well as things falling apart. I kind of tend to think that it's New York so there's always going to be a problem with pests and things falling apart so I take that with a grain of salt.
The apartments along the Stuy Town North Loop are a great alternative to Gramercy Park in that you're close by with a big apartment and you don't have the Gramercy Price tag.
Pros
  • Huge apartments
  • Close to Gramercy but not price-wise
Cons
  • Nothing to do here
  • Far from transportation

"A street in Stuyvesant Town!"

20th St Loop is part of Stuyvesant Town. The loop streets all share a park and the apartments in this complex are pretty spacious. I knew a few people who lived there and it a pretty cool place to live, but many residents complained about the rat issue that wasn't under control on this street. They are always doing construction on this street so it's really hard for the residents to park in their garages. This complex is very close to some cool bars and great shopping areas.
