Should any parts of South Chicago in Chicago be avoided more than others?

I'd avoid Russell Park, and I've heard South Chicago can get a little dangerous, mainly because of the lower economic status, but it's not said to be the worst part of the city so I don't think you'll have huge problems. There has definitely been some improvements recently.

There is some gang violence in the area. Most of the residents are pretty happy with the area but you should be cautious here at night.
