"From bad to good and back again"

Depending on what part of the street you start on, you can literally see the good and the bad of the city all on one block. The west end has the nice and fancy shops, the gourmet stores and the fancy restaurants. The east side of the street, in what used to be the red light district, has a bad end motel right across from a nice senior home. It's very confounding.

thatsabear if you call that place, (former Ann Arbor Inn Hotel) a NICE senior home, then you don't know what you are talking about. and the red light district was further north, past Ann St. fyi. a lot of people seem to get such details wrong. The Embassy is definitely a seedy hotel, old and decrepit, even with the newer facade that was added several years ago. But you off the red light district, which used to be known as "The Block" by about 2 blocks. The area you are talking about is a far cry from seeing the 'good' & 'bad' on either side of the street. Take it from a local who has lived in the downtown area for over 20 years and made a point of studying it's history.
