Would you recommend the SoHo neighborhood in New York City for families with kids?

No. It's way too crowded, loud and dirty 24 hours a day. There are tourists everywhere and the cabs run like wild buffalo down there. Furthermore, most of the buildings are really old in that neighborhood so you would be looking at walking up several flights of stairs every day with a child / stroller / book bag etc. Not ideal.
