"Good for travel, but not a family"
The street varies by location and so do the side streets. Some seem to be in good shape, while others I hear are filled with crime. I have read the police blotters and there is always something in the area, but perhaps you might want to give it a try because of the parks and nice scenery. The only thing is, is what happens when it gets dark outside.
"On Sedgwick Avenue"
Sedgwick Avenue is a short street in the Bronx. This street is filled with small service oriented businesses and shops, and has a nice quaint feel. The neighborhood itself is quite convenient All in all, a nice street in the Bronx.

"On Sedgwick Avenue"
Housing a library and a public school, this family oriented block is a good place for families with children and mature adults. I liked the calmness and the ease of transit, as well as the vicinity to more interesting streets. This may not be the place for the NYC culture you were searching for, but there’s definitely a good vibe here.
