"Park Like Setting in the San Rafael Hills"

Emerald Isle is a quintessential California neighborhood. An aerial photograph would show never-ending rows of spacious ranches situated on well landscaped streets with a pool in the back of each home. The community feels well-maintained and pride of ownership is evident.

It is a decent drive from shopping restaurants and the hustle and bustle of the city center. You would choose to live here for these reasons. The setting is also prone to be in the path of wildfires during the hot Summer months.

One of the best features in the area is Emerald Isle Park. Hidden away in the deep uncharted recess of Chevy Chase Canyon high up in the mountains, Emerald Isle Park is a green oasis with a children’s playground, tennis courts, basketball court, picnic tables under a canopy of shade trees, and an expanse of grass that seems to go on forever.

A beautiful and peaceful place to live in the Valley.
Pros
  • Great views of the Valley
  • spacious well-maintained yards
  • elegant homes
Cons
  • Wildfire danger
  • Long Commute

"Affluent Hideaway in the Glendale Hills"

Emerald Isle is an affluent neighborhood in the northern reaches of Glendale. With its back up against hills, the neighborhood offers views of the dry, uninhabited hills and the seclusion of its off the beaten path location gives residents a feeling of privacy from the not so far away city of Glendale.

Unlike many of the Glendale neighborhoods, the homes in Emerald Isle were virtually all built after 1960. These large newer homes are not quite mansions but they are large sprawlers, some being long squat Ranch style homes while others are modernized two-story Mission Revival style homes with high ceilinged foyers that give visitor an immediate feeling of opulence.

The streets that lead to these homes are clean and well manicured, with lush lawns in sharp contrast to the dry chaparral of the hills that form their back drop.

At the heart of the neighborhood is Emerald Isle Park, a nice green space tucked away so that only the locals really know about it and where the kids can run around when they get home from their private schools. The tennis courts are also nicely maintained so that you can practice your back hand on any sunny morning.

Yet another hideaway neighborhood up in the hills above Glendale—great family living if you can afford it.
Pros
  • Nice Homes
  • Hillside Views
  • Secluded
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Wildfires and Erosion
